It's quite warm! The wool is good quality, not too scratchy. I didn't realize it came with the "U.S. Army" name patches (or at least mine did), but the transition to civilian shirt is easy with a seam ripper :) I usually wear XS in women's (fitted) shirts and this fit closer to a shirt than a jacket. I will say, if you want to button it all the way down and not have the "bloused" look, perhaps get a size up, as these shirts were made for men and so may or may not accomodate women's hips. (It barely does for me. That said, I love the bloused look, so just something to keep in mind. Oh. And same for the bust. Though I am woefully lacking in that department, I understand now why Marilyn Monroe has it as unbuttoned as she does.) All that said, it's a lovely shirt! If they came in more colors I'd buy another :)
Definitely older than me but built to last forever! The frame is a touch wide on me (a 5' 9" woman who runs narrow in everything) but the straps are highly adjustable so I'm sure it'll work out. A little leather conditioning for the straps and then I'll have a new hiking bag! (I got the used good and it is in good condition: I felt I could use it right out of the box if I wanted.)
