Us military AIRCAST JUMP BRACE OVER-BOOT / SHOE ANKLE STABILITY
These Ankle Stability Support Braces were designed and made for Military Paratroopers but are suited for civilian Skydiving or as an alternative to Aircast Ankle Supports that fit inside the shoe. As one former soldier once said, specifically a soldier who’s career was cut short buy ankle injuries, "I wish these were around in the early 1990’s. Back then, when I sprained an ankle I was given an Aircast that fit inside my shoe / boot. The traditional Aircast was a chore to get inside of my footwear, ruined my shoes, and to say it was uncomfortable is a laughable understatement. I actually tried to use the old Aircasts on the outside of my kicks and they were quickly ruined."
These Jump Braces would be excellent for:
- Hiking
- Skydiving
- Everyday wear in lieu of inside shoe Aircast
- Stability for walking or running over uneven terrain
- Keep a pair in your pack, bug-out bag, car, camper, truck, etc., for Ankle injuries when away from medical care
ABOUT AIRCAST JUMP BRACE PARACHUTE ANKLE BRACE:
Parachuting from aircraft is a dangerous endeavor for civilian thrill seekers and Military Paratroopers alike. With most of the safety R&D in parachuting done around the parachute itself and vast improvements made over the years, injuries can still be as high as 60 per 10,000 descents. Contrary to what you might expect, ankle injuries account for over 40% of all injuries. With regard to Military Airborne Operations; this figure could even be higher given the increased load of combat equipment which can double the weight of the individual parachuting.
The number of injuries per 10,000 may not seem significant, but bear in mind that each injured soldier will require at least two other paratroopers to remove him or her to safety; and possibly more, depending upon the injury.
This risk of reducing the effective numbers of Airborne troops after a parachute deployment prompted the US Army Centre for Health Promotion and Preventative to investigate preventive measures to mitigate unnecessary injuries. Through extensive research and trials, the US Army concluded that the Aircast Jump Brace (Also referred to as “Parachute Ankle Brace” or “PAB”) greatly reduces the risk of ankle injury when worn for Parachute or Airborne Operations.
